Another Sidekick Blog
I'm realizing that things are picking up as far as me becoming a public
figure. Now I'm really realizing it. Things I do and say can be
magnified and looked at in different ways now without my knowledge. I
guess privacy is a sacrifice for fame. Don't get it twisted, I'm not
making it look like I'm up there poppin or anything, because this is
just the beginning. I can still take the train without being on page six
lol! On a serious note though, it is a sacrifice. I can say something or
something is said to me, and it can start an argument or other drama in
the blink of an eye, status update, or tweet. I'm not just a john doe
that does nothing but work at his job, so I can't just up and delete my
facebook, myspace, or twitter to make it all go away though. I make
music. That is what I do. And I take it seriously. I cannot just walk
away from it to keep others happy and keep things intact. That is not
happening. I dunno man... My eyes are on the prize, but things are
getting crazier and crazier by the day. Didn't expect this to happen
within a year I tell you! If yall only knew smh!

I Know This Is Random, But...
I felt like dropping this mixtape just because. Just because I felt like it. I have a lot of beats in the stash. If you didn't know by now, I make music (like really doe, some people still dont know lol). I decided to take a whole bunch of beats I haven't released and just put them out. I have no plan on using them. I have a lot of beats people wont hear for a long time. Or even at all. It may look like im contradicting my announcement from last week, but how many people gonna actually use the beats, and record some dope music to them? Haha....
Download: Kwan Lee: Beats From The Vault Volume 1
PS: IF YOU DO USE A BEAT FROM THIS MIXTAPE, GIVE THE KID CREDIT. THATS ALL I AM ASKING. DONT BE THAT ARTIST THAT FORGETS WHO MADE THE BEAT....

Announcement Regarding My Music
To some this may be random, to some it may be a shock, to some it may be another meaningless thing I say, to some it may make you say it is about time: I have come to the decision of working on me as an artist. The reason is because I feel I need to finally put myself first. A lot of hot songs have come out because of my production and I don't feel the love is what it is supposed to be. So I am sticking to my core. My core knows who they are, so they are good. A lot of my music I record gets looked over on a constant by my peers, dj's, and others and I am sick of it. I am honestly a bit frustrated about some things, but no one ever me handed me anything in life without me earning it. Its time I show people I'm just as good an artist as my peers are. Although I don't compete, I do know I am capable of doing so. I still will not compete, but just know that my greatness will not be proclaimed and promoted by me. The announcement won't be a big deal to anyone but me. No one cares. Everyone has a blog and a Twitter and a Myspace Facebook or whatever now, so things are not taken as serious as they should be if youre not popular and have a following of people who will publicize your every move on the internet. This is not a tirade or a caps lock filled blog, this is how I feel and I am sticking to it. Im glad I am showing maturity as well writing this because had this been a year or two ago, I would have went on a profanity laced tirade and been visibly upset along with violent. But upset I am not. I just know what has to be done and could care less about anyone's feelings now. The real people will stand out and stick with me, and the fake will be forgotten.
Honestly, music upsets me at times. There is no reason another state should be showing me more love than my state. I am very appreciative that I can reach other states, but I would expect my city to show love first. I have shows, and even my closest people don't show up. I go out to other people's events, and when I have something, they are nowhere to be found. That is in general. Parties, shows, whatever. I get that general text that says come out and have a good time with us, but when I send you a text like that its annoying. Come on. Please. If you can do it, why cant I? This is just a glimpse of the things that irk me and kind of upset me though. The rest will be revealed at the right time. Peace.

Some Of The Realest Words I Ever Heard
"I warn you, I am just beginning! If there is in your hearts a vestige
of love for your country, love for humanity, love for justice, listen
carefully... I know that the regime will try to suppress the truth by
all possible means; I know that there will be a conspiracy to bury me in
oblivion. But my voice will not be stifled – it will rise from my
breast even when I feel most alone, and my heart will give it all the
fire that callous cowards deny it... Condemn me. It does not matter.
History will absolve me." -Fidel Castro
Those are some of the realest words I have ever heard and now one of my
favorite quotes. That's how I feel with hip-hop. It has been dumbed down
and watered down to the point where it makes me upset when garbage slips
through the cracks. Then when something different comes along, it is
ridiculed and laughed at. No I'm not talking about skinny jeans and
bright colors. I'm talking about music with a message. I'm sick of me
and my people getting shot down, and I'm taking my measures to get
respected. I'm not laying out the battleplan to yall, so yall could copy
it make a few changes and say it was you who started it. You will see
when everyone else sees.

It's Been A While
What's going on people? It has been a minute. That doesn't mean I
haven't been grinding and working hard. I'm on more websites now.
Chances are if its poppin, I'm on there. Not as a feature, but I'm
working on that. Its not easy trust me. Best believe though, I'm working
on my album The People vs. Kwan Lee. Its not anticipated, or in demand,
but I'm dropping it. I don't care about the demand or the anticipation.
Its hard to get support in my city man! I laugh about it though.
Everything will come in due time. I'm appreciative of the love that is
shown to me though. Very appreciative. Shoutout to everyone that
genuinely shows love. Anyway, yall know the links. If yall don't just
google Kwan Lee and Kwan Lee TV! Peace...

The Process Is Here
The Process is finally here. I cannot even begin to tell you what a journey it has been. From On With The Show Volume 1 to an official album. Yes an official album. All orignial beats no samples and available for retail. To be a part of that feels great. If you want to buy it, go here and do so...
It feels good man. It definitely does feel good to be a part of this. Not even because I produced 2 songs on it. Just off the strength that I was actually around to witness it happen. A lot of rappers that aren't signed are always throwing that album title out so loosely and my boy Elus done went and did it! LET'S GO!

WOW.
I have not been doing any personal blogs in a while because I have been busy doing music, and all the other things I do. Or at least try to do. Today I uploaded Purple Pain to That Crack's website, just to get it out you know? Then when I got home, I decided to check the numbers. 1,164 downloads in less than 24 hours, and that brings the project close to 2,000 total. I had to wipe my eyes and refresh the page! I could not believe it. I'm still in denial lol! I actually cried a few hours ago because of this personal success. It is crazy to me, and I don't feel that the road has even officially started yet...
I never really anticipated much in my life because I was always told I cant for the most part. I got shot down when it came to a lot of my "dreams", and when it came to music especially. Music was the only thing I felt I was at least halfway decent at. I tried basketball and realized the closest I'd get to playing alongside NBA superstars was creating myself in the video games. So, I channeled my energy into music. I thank my pops for introducing me to the people who put me on about how to make beats without having expensive equipment or a keyboard. I don't know how I became good at it. I also thank my mother for allowing me to have a relationship with my father even though he was not there when I was younger for me at all. If it wasn't for them, I would not be here making music. I would also like to thank my grandmother because she helped me keep my head up when I was down, and still does to this day. Everyone who supported is important to me, but these 3 are my integral pieces.
Just looking at this situation makes me glad that I have humbled myself and continue to do so. I have a few kinks and flaws to work out still, but I am glad that I carry myself the way I do. I have no reason to change because being myself is working. I feel I went from being worried about "being the man" to being a man. I feel I went from someone who was laughed at to someone you can laugh with. Music has made me grow up and look at life differently. There are still some things I cannot grasp and will make mistakes or react in a way I shouldn't at the time, but I am still learning how to deal with issues, my anger, and people who do not want to see someone prosper. I have came a very long way with my anger though in so little time. I used to think that life was from Broadway to Ralph Ave., and that the only news that mattered was what was going on where I physically was. Music played a very big part in reassuring me that was not the case, as well as help me deal with my anger and issues I encounter. I thank God for giving me this gift that I still cant believe has been given to me, of all people. I will remain to be appreciative and humble. Thank you all.

Interview With Ayvii Armada
Ayvii Armada is a photographer, music a&r, and a music journalist. She has interviews with a lot of up and coming artists and models in the music and fashion industries respectively. I had the great opportunity of interviewing her...
1. When did you get into journalism and photography?
Ayvii: Last year I realized how many connects I had accumulated over years of working in the music industry, so started my photography company. This year I decided it would be a great business move to combine my photography with Journalism and the rest just flowed.
2. What was your first interview?
Ayvii: My first interview was with Super Model Miguel Perdomo. He's one of the lead campaign models for Sean John and also a really great friend of mine.
3. For all of the people who are getting into photography, what equipment do you use to take pictures and what software do you use to touch up pictures? What did you start out with?
Ayvii: Well I use digital cameras with high resolutions, Nikon's, and cannons. As for re-touching I use PS4 only. I always started out with photoshop, its the best when picture editing skin and lighting.
4. What is your favorite interview and why?
Ayvii: My favorite interview so far was Cinematic/Epic Records Recording Artist Smoke Dza because I liked hearing about him talk about how great it is to get high ha ha
5. What is the worst interview you have conducted?
Ayvii: I actually haven't had and bad interviews. I'm thankful for all of them, and everyone is always so cooperative
6. Any advice for anyone getting into journalism and/or photography?
Ayvii: I'd say practice makes perfect, and when working in the arts, it all has 2 come from the heart!
7. What are a few interesting things that people don't know about you?
Ayvii: Well actually I started off as a rapper since 2002, but I loved to write more than anything. So eventually I became an AnR for 5 years working with Major Labels and Independent. I also did TV commercials because I was also a model for four years.
8. If you weren't doing photography and journalism what would you be doing?
Ayvii: I would def. Be in law school. I studied law for 5 years and part of me is still considering taking it up as a profession.
9. What are your plans for 2010?
Ayvii: I def. Plan on helping out unsigned hype and furthering my photography company and journalism website. I'm always open to meet new people with creative ideas to work with!

Interview With Doggie Diamonds
Forbezdvd.com is one of the best sites online for videos. I like it because it is real. You know I have my issues with worldstar (Fedstar), so I only rock with Forbez. Doggie Diamonds is the co-owner of the site. He is known for doing interviews in the game and is respected in the game as well. So I was on twitter a couple of hours ago, and @doggiediamonds had asked a question why doesn't he get interviewed. So I stepped up to the plate and asked to interview him. He was real and asked me to send him questions. I did, and hours later I got the interview! Here it is:
1. I know you are the co-owner of Forbez DVD. How did the idea come about?
ForbezDVD was an idea that M.Reck, Jordan Tower and I came up with. Jordan was looking to break away from the Come Up DVD and do his own thing, so we came up with that idea. It was looking like it was going to down, we did a interview with J-Hood when he was leaving D-Block. We also caught the footage with Mobb Deep and Saigon confrontation on the club. If you look on youtube all that footage says ForbezDVD coming soon with release dates. It was never intended to be a website at first, But Jordan made the jump to wackstarhiphop (after I put him on the the website) and we didn't hear from him in a few months. All we saw was his videos on that site and he wasn't answering calls. Reck was like fuck it, so he started COD DVD and put that out. I was like we did too much to build the Forbez name up, let's still run with it. So...we built ForbezDVD.com and here we are today.
2. You are known for having great interviews. What was your first interview?
Well I used to do interviews for a website called Trickology.com (out of business now). The first one was Sun.N.Y. He was the freestyle friday champ on 106 & Park. They were audio interviews and I would have to transcribe them. That shit was wack as fuck to me so I got a camera. So my partner had already put his hat in the DVD game (Outside Hot 97 DVD) so he was like why don't you do the interviews, being that you have a little more hip hop knowledge. The first interview I did on camera was Babs (Making The Band) and it has over 100k views on youtube. I actually got a youtube deal off of that video.
3. What is your favorite interview and why?
It would have to be my Max B interview on the Come Up DVD. I knew I had to do the interview with Max, but I didn't have a contact on him. So I get my dude to ride with me up to Harlem to see if we could find him. So we go to the block he lives on and no Max B. All of a sudden, I see someone walking down the block with their hair blowing in the wind looking like Ron O'Neal (Super Fly). So I'm like, "I know this aint that nigga right here". Sure enough it was him LOL. So I knew it was gonna be special because he was in rare form. And what I liked about Max was he welcomed all questions He didn't give a fuck what I asked him, he just answered. I think that was the interview that really really blew us both up.
4. When did you realize this is what you wanted to do?
Since I was younger I used to walk around with a camera. I had one of those big ass cameras that had the VHS tape in it. I used to tape me and my niggas fucking niggas up, knocking out crack heads and throwing snowballs at people. The we used to film us with all our guns and shit. Then I realized, this shit is some incriminating shit, so I was like we need to do something useful with this camera. So from there I started taping shows and taping my group I was in at rehearsal studio. We used to watch the tapes like athletes do to see how we needed to get better with our shows. But me personally, I used to interview myself in the mirror all the time LOL. Crazy as that shit was it paid off in the long run, because now I know how to ask questions.
5. Any advice for up and coming journalists and bloggers?
Just do you. Don't be a dickrider. Because this worked for him, that doesn't mean it's going to work for you. If this it what you REALLY wanna do, then do this shit day in and day out. Study the game, the pros and cons, the success and the failures and you should be fine. Oh and never let and artist make you believe they're doing you a favor. They need media and if you're on your shit they will respect you and look for you.
6. What do you do other than interview artists?
I'm a music producer. That's what I REALLY do. And it's funny because everyone who knows me, knows me, laughs at me doing interviews. But if I see Lil Fame or Uncle Murda they always ask me for a beat CD. But I don't believe in being the jack of all trades and the master of none. So I wanted to make sure I secured my spot in history with the interviews, then I'm going to let this music go. Some people will be in shock when they hear my beats. Just like my way back crew is in shock when they hear me doing an interview. But I'm happy people care at all. I'll take it how I can get it.
7. How long have you been interviewing for?
2 years, I'm a baby at it LOL. But, I used to do like 7-11 interviews a day. I used to never wanna go home because I was having so much fun doing it. I used to be on my feet for like 12 hours some days with no water or eating like 1 time a day. But I couldn't believe that I was able to make calls and artist would meet up with me because they knew of my work.
8. Where is the craziest place you have interviewed someone?
Spliff Starr. Right on the corner of Church Ave in Flatbush Brooklyn. What made it hot is because I like shit like that. I hate those office or studio interview. If you talk all that shit in you records, let's go to you neighborhood and let me see if the people salute you like that. It's easy to hide in the office, fuck that. I like to touch the pavement and hit the streets.
9. You post interesting videos on Forbezdvd.com. How do you find them?
All over, people send me shit. Some of them are videos I shot or M.Reck shot. Some of them shits are just some stupid crazy shit. But I try to balance it out with something for everyone. But I take pride in the videos we shoot or my interviews.
10. Who do you want to interview that you haven't?
Jay-Z. I'm tired of people like Funk Flex and Angie Martinez getting the opportunity to interview him and all they do is suck him off all day. Ask him some real fucking questions. All that giggling and sucking up gets on my fucking nerves. Jay-Z hasn't been interviewed until Doggie Diamonds interviews him. Because if he lets me ask what I want, we'll finally get the answers to some of the questions people have been asking for all these years. I wouldn't treat him no different from any other interview I did.
Make sure yall check out Forbezdvd.com! And there will be a part 2 to this interview....

The Process Album Review
While Elus may be a new name to some people, to me it is not. Elus is definitely someone who has been making moves in the NY underground. His 3 mixtapes (The On With The Show Series) have been heard across NYC and you probably have either brought a cd from him or he tried to sell you one. He is also a part of the supergroup Triboro, who also have been making their mark in the NY undergrund.
This is the first official release from Elus. Titled The Process, it is definitely something worth listening to. It is a classic. Now that word is tossed around loosely sometimes, but not here. Elus is being no one but himself, and in the process of doing that, he creates something that everyone can vibe to. And makes us laugh at the same time by putting aspiring comedian Jay Frost on the album with a skit (you are familiar with Jay Frost if you have listened to On With The Show 1, 2 and 3). Overall, the album is definitely something worth buying. From the intro titled The Oath to the end titled Marryjuana, this is the beginning of a great journey for Elus.
Favorite track: What You Know About Me feat Fred Da Godson & Goodz
Least Favorite Track: Retweets (That is a skit, but the album is so solid I had to choose the skit. In other words, GO BUY IT! ITS HOT!)

About The VMA's
Hey guys,
I am back. It has been a while. I decided to type this blog because I know ever since I was younger that there was always an uproar the next morning after awards on who should and shouldn't have won. In the case of the VMA's, I would like people to realize something. That contest is a numbers game. Yes, the Video Music Awards is a numbers game and a POPularity contest. Why do I say that? Because every artist who won sold records and are household names. Example: The Best New Artist is Lady Gaga. (Her fellow nominees were 30H!3, Asher Roth, Drake, and Kid Cudi). Lady Gaga sold over 3 million copies worldwide of her debut, The Fame. 30H!3 sold about 300,000 copies. Asher Roth sold about 150,000 copies. Although Drake and Kid Cudi have big internet and mixtape buzzes along with appearing on other artists albums, they have yet to come out with official debut material (Both are releasing their official debuts on September 15th). Lady Gaga wins by numbers.
Second example: Best Female Video. Taylor Swift sold 4 million records. Lady Gaga sold 3 million. Katy Perry sold 2.5 million copies. Kelly Clarkson sold a little over a million. Pink sold 1.2 million copies. Taylor Swift wins.
I am not doing this to shoot MTV down or anything, I am just being realistic. MTV is the center stage for America. It gives America what it wants. Viacom owns all three major music networks (BET, VH1, MTV). Each network has its core audience. The BET demographic is for urban audiences. The VH1 demographic (except for the reality shows) is for older audiences. The MTV demographic is for everyone. MTV is the melting pot for the music networks. Basically the demographic the musician appeals to, is the network they will be upheld and featured on, and MTV signifies that you made it.

Haven't Thought This Hard In A Long Time...
I was going to do a Kwan Lee TV addressing things, but I decided not to. Some people think I'm paranoid for this, but I know for a fact there are people wishing for my downfall so I could be as miserable as they are. Not gonna happen! I have come too far to let this all crumble and I have much more to go. Nothing is stopping me from sucess. Its crazy because I was just saying the other day how crazy it can be. I'm not even signed yet and its like everywhere I go someone knows me. Just the other day at work this teenage kid said I look like Kwan Lee! Even people around my way now know I make music and all I do is sleep there. I don't be outside like I was in the stuy. When I first started making music I never even pictured getting this far. Its crazy man....

Let Me Address Some Rumors Real Quick.....
sometimes I feel I be havin to address it! I'm not giving yall haters
and non well wishers satisfaction. I'm just standing up for myself.

1. Kwan Lee TV is still on and poppin. I just been busy trying to do
things other than music. I do have a regular life.
2. Kwan Lee TV 22 is not out because of more than one reason. I will
tell you though that I am not satisfied with the level of content for
that episode.
3. I am not quitting making music. I have been going through some shit!
But I'm still breathing. I'm gonna channel it into my music though...
4. I run all my websites. No one else
5. I say what I say on twitter (twitter.com/kwanlee) cuz I feel it. I
hold back to not hurt peoples feelings though a little bit. I got a bad
habit of doing it without knowing...
That's all for now

Wow, Still Can't Believe I Moved.....
Wow. Like I still can't believe I moved. I only moved a few houses down,
so when I went to the store this morning, I walked back to my old house
like I still lived there lol. I didn't want to move but I had to. Long
story. But it feels so good to have your own shit! Woooooo! I always
said since I was small that by 22 I would have my own crib. And now
look. Sure enough it happened! Now if only the rest of my predictions
would come true...
Don't worry guys the Kwan Lee TV's is coming once I get the office set
up the way I want it. There's a reason that Kwan Lee TV 22 is not out
(not gonna elaborate on it much but just know that I'm not putting that
specific one out until there's a change in politics). But best believe
when I come back its on! Until next time, peace!

The Fights Fixed? WHAT!?
Yeah I said it. The fights fixed. I feel like as far as raaping goes the
fights fixed. Everytime something bogus happens, I feel my love for
making good hip-hop music is deteorating. Instead of vh1 doing all these
stupid reality shows about finding love or a job that pays you thousands
if you don't quit? They should do one based on real life issues, like
people trying to get on or just do something positive in general.
Anyway, I'm taking things into my own hand as far as me getting good
music out there. I'm not going to let a few stupid things stop me from
progressing. I got upset last night and illustrated it on twitter but I
quickly got over that. Its Kwan Diddy time now! LETS WORK PEOPLE! LOL!
By the way I got a blackberry now. My sidekick is my main phone (till
death do us part) but I need the bb for data because my inbox kept
getting full with emails from this website and others. So feel free to
email me your blackberry pins people so we could build and network and
increase our net worth. Peace!

Things I Have An Absolute Disregard For
This is a real bucket list right here.
1. Bitches (very few women are categorized as this. Because they are
dogs who will do the grimiest things to please theirself and could care
less about anyone else even their kids if they have any)
2. Bitch ass niggaz (yall know who they are, and people have described
you. For those haters out there, I aint one)
3. Snakes (people who wait for an opportunity for you to slip, and try
to capitalize off your mistake by even throwing dirt on you're name)
4. Fakes (people who only ride when things are good, but when things are
bad, no calls, no texts, and since twitter is so poppin no @ replies)
5. Stupid people (it irks me)
6. Haters (I be wanting to smack people mannnn!)
7. Hollywood People (yeah ill collab with you.. And all I get is ya
voicemail)
8. Racists (its america not amerikkka!)
9. House niggas (yall are the worst)
10. Dick Riders (wasn't ridin my wave when I had no type of buzz, but
now since I've damn near made my own empire you hitting me up. Shame)
I don't speak much, because its no real reason to. Yall don't wanna hear
me, but when I speak yall feel me. Peace!

Repost from Kandyyams
I was on Kandy's blog and i read this...
How Come You Didn't Want To Be A Doctor?
I'm ALL for self promotion, but I wonder if these same people realize that the music industry isn't the same anymore. You can't just be "nice on the mic" anymore. You have to have that buzz about you that can't be denied. Nowadays, A & R's are looking for the people that have the internet going crazy. Why? Because the internet has become the source of all media. Record companies aren't willing to take that chance on those that don't have that buzz going on already.
People aren't going out and buying albums as much as they used to in the earlier days. Why else would it be a big deal when Weezy sold 1 million albums in his first week? People were shocked because an artist hadn't done that in a long time. And to top it off, his album got leaked from here to Iraq, so doing those numbers was a great accomplishment.
Back in the 90's during the Bad Boy, Deathrow, Def Jam era, if an artist was signed, they were forced on us, making us go out and buy their albums. It was never a question who was going to go platinum and who wasn't because in those times, every artist did numbers.
Now-we're in the era of "make up a dance and tell people how to do it in the song" on a nice beat. Yes, I'm talking about the Souljaboy's, the GS Boyz, and the B Hamp's. A new, fun song is all fine and dandy, but when that's what your whole album is based on, I'm less likely to support your career. I appreciate artists that have the skill to put words together to make me think about the deep stuff. I appreciate the actual skill of it all.
The "Up and comers" are trying not to go that route, but without it, they are going to struggle with getting a deal. And there's the "Catch 22".
Not only that, but the overall appearance of these "up and comers" are not quite up to par. Diddy made Big Mike lose weight (he could stand to lose about 50 more pounds) back when he was still trying to make the band. A record company is not going to risk throwing their money into someone that isn't appealing to the public.
With all that said, I ask, "how come these guys never wanted to be a doctor or lawyer?"
Im sure I know the answer to this question. Its the same reason why I didn't want to be a doctor or lawyer: because studying Radio Broadcasting was cheaper. I do have a passion to do radio, but I have no plans on limiting myself (that's another blog post).
No, I'm not an A&R, but I definitely could be. I have a musical talent and I have the ear. And some people just need other hobbies.
I know these up and comers have the passion to do music, but I fear they don't understand its gonna take a lot more than being "nice on the mic". They have to do shows, youtube themselves, make their own little street teams and flood their neighboorhood with their music. Sending links to Diddy via Twitter (or any celebs on Twitter for that matter) is just not going to work.
And like my second father Ed Lover once said, "rapping aint for everybody".
But maybe I'm the only one who feels like this.

Working For Amerikka. SMH.
over my head and keep my electronics working, I work for Amerikkka.
People that know me personally know where I work at, and if you don't I
can only tell you that it is hell. If it wasn't for the paycheck I was
getting every 2 weeks, I would have quit after the first 2 months. I
seen someone fired a few days before christmas, and I've seen them wait
until after the workload slowed down to take disciplinary action against
people. They are suspect. Trying to fire me now as I'm writing this.
Don't get me wrong, I am appreciative of the fact that I have a job, but
if there was a job available that paid better and took me without giving
me hell, I would jump ship without blinking! There's other federal jobs
and city jobs available, but I can't leave the state for 14 weeks or go
back to school. I left school because I wasn't being supported
financially. And I definitely won't be now. When I was in high school,
my needs (house, food, etc.) were taken care of, but when it came to the
things I wanted, I took care of that however I could. When college came
I was left for damn near dead and was told if I came back home, I'd be
homeless. If it wasn't for my ex-girlfriend in Maryland, I think I would
have lost it down there. I can't even say I regretted a single moment of
my life before living on my own, because if it didn't happen, I wouldn't
be who I am now. Left a lot of shit out, but just know that it shaped me
to be the humble and cool person people know me as...

So I'm On Twitter And....
Rt: @chuckcreekmur @kwanlee lol - i hate the cha cha slide so i agree.
I brought up the electric slide. And honestly that is the only tradition
I knew at every bbq and block party. Until a couple of years ago when
the cha cha slide came out. Not knocking dude for running with it, but
to me it is a watered down version of the electric slide. I hate that
song! I'd rather do the macarena in its 757,435 versions than to do
this. I'd rather do the soulja boy (you.....) joint than this. I don't
dance btw. I 2 step. I remember most of the macarena, but I know its
better than the cha cha slide. If I did the Bobby Brown it would be
better than the cha cha slide...

When I Speak My Mind, Don't Get Mad. I Always Keep It 100!
A lot of you looked over Purple Pain, and no one is anticipating The
Road Warrior. So my attitude towards yall is like whatever. I know who
real and who not. Sad to say a lot of yall is stuck up and phony. I've
sent out invites to come see me rock, and not even my people who I
thought was my road dawgs showed up. I could have a free show right now,
and people wouldn't support. Let a garbage artist perform at amazura or
something though. The line is all the way to the airtrain damn near! I
must admit, IT FUSTRATES THE HELL OUT OF ME! On my other website I got a
mailing list and very few open up the emails. I do all this shit by
myself and I'm sick of seeing no results. I'm hearing be patient be
patient. I'm not trying to hear that. I'm not trying to be 30 still
doing open mics to get on. Not knocking anyone that's doing it, but I'm
not. For all that I might as well be a regular ass dude with a regular
ass job making regular ass money in a regular ass apartment for the rest
of my regular ass life. I be feeling like changin my genre man. At least
other genre's artists support them through thick and thin. I saw Led
Zepplin perform for 10 people and they told me after, we've been doing
it for years and we still do it because we love it. So maybe I just
might do some different shit, cuz if rappers can lie about their past
and sell millions of records while I speak truth and I'm not signed or
nothing, I'm not with it. Yall makin me lose love for the game man real
talk. I'm sick of yall not supporting me if you claim you do! I have no
team, no fanbase, no promoters, no street team. A nigga doin Kwan Lee
TV's, putting out mixtapes and ep's all by myself, and to no avail it
has gotten me nothing. So you know what? After I finish my album and put
it out, ill see where I'm going to go from there. I'm always gonna love
hip-hop, but if it gets me nothing, I'm not putting nothing out. Fuck
around and yall might see me doing some glam shit or some pop shit next
year. Maybe even some straight R&B. I'm sick of not being supported!

RIP MICHAEL JACKSON
wow. One of my biggest inspirations gone. It would be real bad taste to
make jokes right now or bring up past events online. Can't no one sit
and say they aint dream about them socks or that glove. And I think the
media should treat this tragedy with respect as well. He reached out to
people with his music that didn't even speak english. Did great
humanitarian efforts. He broke barriers in black music. He did a lot and
I think he should be remembered as a great entertainer. He made the
earth stand still being the only person I know in my lifetime to have
all major networks including regular tv premier his videos
simultaneously at the same time! All I'm saying is remember the greatest
entertainer in our lifetime (people in my age group). RIP Micheal
Jackson.

Man.....
as I'm waiting to get on stage. Even though I have little or no support
when it comes to most things in my life, I still do it. Why? Because I
need to maintain my sanity before I wind up slapping someone. A lot of
the good things in my life are the things I look at before I wind up
spazzin and just slapping the shit out of people! Even at work I just be
feeling like straight bustin someone head open! Not saying it like ima
tough dude or big bad man cuz there is a chance I can get my shit
rocked... I keep it 100 and could give a fuck less bout what people say
or think. Everyone who knows me knows I'm the cool calm dude, but
sometimes I really be feeling like just BLAWWW! Yall have no idea....

The Music Part Is Easy To Me. Getting Yall Support Is Not.
I made a comment last night on twitter that I am the illest mc/ producer
with no concrete fanbase. I'm sticking to that. Honestly I'm sick of not
being heard because I know the music is dope. I've been on the radio in
Cali and I've been at valid venues performing but other than my peers
I'm performing with who is there? I've had shows where people can come
out and pay no cover charge, get in the spot for free, and I still get
no love. I don't talk about anything I don't do because I'm not no CB4
type dude. I'm not a cat that be in the street selling drugs or shooting
at people. I got a job. I get respect from those people living that life
though because they respect the fact that I'm admitting it. I can only
talk about things I've seen and things I go through on a song. I can't
make up a story about how I was a big time drug dealer making money and
now I make music. I can't talk about shooting someone because he
disrespected me or my girl. I haven't done it and I probably never will.
But even if I did, I wouldn't put that out there. That shit is dumb to
me. The thing that irks me an really pisses me off though is that the
people who believe that false hype won't even look twice at my shit
until I'm validated by a website or a person who "knows" good music. XXL
Magazine shot This Charming Mixtape down and I think its dope. Vibe made
a bullshit ass list of what they considered the greatest rappers and
people ran with that. But because I'm not mentioned on those websites or
World Star, I aint shit. HA! I'm not on anyones website, and I refuse to
pay to get on one. Fuck that shit. I tried to keep from cursing but this
shit fustrates me. Support my shit just like you support them niggas
lyin on records shit. I'm sick of seeing and hearing garbage music
played and displayed. Everytime I go somewhere and I have no support, I
think I'm being lied to. From everyone. If you really like my music like
you say you do, why don't you support it and spread the word? I know its
dope and you claim that it is too. Answer that. Send an email to
kwanlee@kwanlee.net and I will definitely post it up here.

Dirty niggaz wit clean clothes on by Miss Kola
tweeted it and I asked her to elaborate so I can put it on here.
You can spot these niggaz from a mile away. First sign is the "Layered
Look". For instance. If you see a nigga with 2 or more shirts on, but
only the outside one look clean, 9 out of 10 he a dirty nigga with clean
clothes on.. Next sign is the "Ring around the Neck" if the nigga go on
a fresh white T but the neck is mad BLACK he a dirty nigga with clean
clothes on.. And last but not least.. If the nigga got on clean clothes
but he smell like a bag of onions and its the early A.M, that nigga aint
washed his ass yet. These the type of niggaz you just wanna take a bar
of soap and beat the hell out of em.. OH yeah females do it too dont get
it twisted. I will tell you the signs of a dirty broad with clean
clothes on next time.. : ) P.S dont forget to follow me on

About yesterday...
My intent was not to shoot down the promoters. The promoters are good in
my book. It wasn't them at all. They were the ones who were pushed out
along with the artists present. The owner of the venue wasn't trying to
hear hip hop and his bar wasn't being supported so he shitted on them.
Dude we paid to get in and for most of us it was the little we had left
to have a chance to be heard. It wasn't the 1st or a pay weekend for
most if they have a job, and in my opinion, that's real foul. The venue
is on my blacklist along with the annex and europa. Yes, Alphabet lounge
is on that list now of people who will take hip-hop's money but won't
let hip-hop rock. The Annex shorted Frank Ramz about a month ago and
that was hell in itself having to prove that Ramz was shorted. The lady
in charge of booking acts was real nasty and was trying to get over.
Europa is real shady. Point blank if it aint Kiss Lounge, Hip Hop
Culture Center, Karma Lounge or anything their promoter puts together,
Cutiepye's events, or Don Hills, I have to have a real good reason to
come out and perform.
Kwan Lee
DAMN
I'M ON MY IPOD RIGHT NOW AND I AM PISSED! I was going to do all caps but
fuck it. I bust my ass to get to the alphabet lounge to get the place
shut down by the owner. Quick to take hip hop money but won't let hip
hop rock. They fall into the same category as the annex now. I ain't
even get the chance to play my shit so I am extra tight. A well known
exec was there and this coulda been my shot. I guess everything happens
for a reason. Shit like this make it hard to stay positive. Real hard. I
bet you if a rock band or pop singer was there they would let them rock
all night. This is some bullshit. And I got decent for the place. I was
better off coming in sweats man. Dead ass. It's like I'm against the
world with my music. Bad enough I get little or no support and then
this. What will it take to be heard? This is the only option I have to
live life to the fullest and it's taken as a joke. People say I am
talented but talent gets places. Talent gonna leave me struggling at
this rate. Something has to give. Something man. It's do or die for me.
I'm not trying to work at an airport for the rest of my life. I'm not
trying to be a wait for income tax check to check drone. Shit

Why I Called My EP The Akira EP
What's going on yall? I dunno who be reading this blog and checks it
frequently and I am not a superficial person. I believe all gems will be
found by those who seek it. Anyway, the reason why I called my EP
"Akira" is because if you've ever watched the movie Akira (if you
haven't please do) you know that the main character Tetsuo is not really
taken seriously until he goes on a tirade and shows cats what it is!
That's how I feel. A lot of people I know personally don't show love or
support (few people do whaup v, whaup trish! Whatup dust!). Its too many
people to call out that don't show love and I'm not about hating. I will
get my point across though just like Tetsuo did. He put it on his city
badly. Watch the movie!
The Akira EP focuses on me rapping. I made all the beats as well. People
won't produce for me and I only collab with few. I have no problem with
collabing with anybody, but its a rarity when someone wants to jump on a
record with me. I put this out on some fuck it shit. Lets see what
happens with it. I'm not even promoting it as hard as I am Purple Pain.
Its something unspoken about my skills on the mic not being up to my
peers par or something my peers laugh at, but I don't do it to say I'm
the illest or the rawest. I do it because I love it and I spit real
shit. Why hate on that? If I was to get signed and I only moved 100,000
units I'd be happy as shit because that's 100,000 more than I thought I
would have sold. But we all know my production will move more than
that... I can't make no records about selling drugs and making it rain
because that's not me. What I don't do, I don't talk about. And if I did
something extreme, I'm not gonna talk about it on the mic. Makes no
sense to me talking about I wet up a whole block because I'd be
incriminating myself. Feel me?

Rapathon 2009
The Rapathon was cool! It was definitely a good turnout. If you werent there you missed out on something good. You know Kwan Lee TV was in the building and I got some good footage. Thats coming tomorrow. Beleive that! I even got the chance to get on stage and spit (GOOD LOOKIN DR)! Shout out to everyone that was up there and did their thing. There wasn't any negativity or hating in the building at all. I saw a few familliar faces other than the usual people I am around, and got the chance to do an interview for a website that was actually streaming the Rapathon live online. It was all love and its a shame our "own" cable television network wasn't anyhwere to be found to witness history being made and support people doing something positive....
