Sony Releasing DVR For PS3?

Pin It Now!

So I was online and came across this news article that said Sony was releasing a DVR for the PS3. Of course, you know Japan gets all the goodies first and sometimes only, which looks like the case for this little box right here. It would be dope if it came over here to the US. Here is the info I have on it so far:

From: Cnet
The new Sony Nasne tuner and media device, due in Japan on July 19 for 16,980 yen ($209), sort of looks like a miniature PlayStation 3. However, don't let the aesthetics fool you: Nasne contains many features the game console lacks, such as a built-in 500GB hard drive for recording content from digital terrestrial or satellite TV broadcasts.
Perhaps the biggest draw (at least to Sony aficionados) resides in the ability to simultaneously watch live or recorded TV content from Nasne on up to two Sony products within the same home network. Supported devices include the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Vaio computers, and Sony's Tablet and Xperia product lines. The oddly named media hub also serves as a generic DLNA-compatible storage device for photos, videos, and music -- with the option to expand space by connecting an external hard drive via the USB port in the rear.
"We are offering a seamless and unique Sony experience through 'Nasne,' which serves as a home entertainment hub that connects to Sony's various network products," Kazuo Hirai, president and CEO of Sony and chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment, said in a statement. "Nasne will give users more freedom to enjoy television in new ways by enabling them to watch programs on various Sony products through dedicated applications."
Accessing TV content recorded by Nasne varies, but the general experience enables users to: schedule recordings, access media content anywhere on the local network via supported Sony devices, or take content on the go (e.g. transfer a recorded TV show from Nasne to the PS Vita or a Xperia phone over Wi-Fi).

Confrimed Once Again: BBM IS COMING TO ANDROID PHONES

Pin It Now!

We’ve all wondered at some point whether our beloved BlackBerry Messenger would one day make its way to other operating systems such as iOS or Android. It looks as if this shift in the smartphone world has begun.

Recently, pictures emerged showing BBM on a screen that is much like the HTC Wildfire, obviously not a BlackBerry device. The BBM for Android version 0.8.8.7 was running SitSLIP debugger 1.3.45. While at the end of last year, similar photos were leaked sporting the same type of thing, yet, those were much more unbelievable. It seemed that the font used on that supposed BBM for Android app was native to BlackBerry, thus unlikely to be legitimate pictures. That’s not the case this time.

It’s still uncertain when the BBM for Android release date will actually occur, but we have been told that it’s only going to be a LITE version at this time. Currently no word has been mentioned regarding the release of BBM for iOS. Should iPhones get BBM, does that mean no more iMessage? Possibly.

If this works out, and Android and iPhone users do end up with BlackBerry Messenger, this just may be the turning point that Research In Motion needed to bring RIM and BlackBerry back to the top of the smartphone market. If this patent release goes well, it could also strike up the interest of many non-BlackBerry users to move to BlackBerry just so they can gain access to all the other goodies that come along with having a BlackBerry.

The BlackBerry House Phone?

Pin It Now!

So I am online checking to see what's going on with the new technology and stuff, and I stumble across this dock that will make your BlackBerry pretty much a house phone. This image leaked and as you can see its an old BlackBerry so apparently this has been in the works for a while. It would be really dope if I could get the BlackBerry house phone... This is an official release with RIM and I am very if at all picky about third-party accessories for the most part. I don't use third party accesories for phones.
This along with the official BlackBerry keyboard and mouse for the Playbook are some releases I am anticipating! A lot of changes have been going on at RIM, but I am confident that it is for the best and not the worst. I'm not a social phone user anymore so BlackBerry fulfills my needs. #BeBold

BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0 Findings

Pin It Now!

So right now I am typing this message from my BlackBerry 9900, but its showing up on the BlackBerry PlayBook. This is one of the new features on the new OS upgrade we got this morning, and honestly one of the dopest features on any tablet period. Your Android and iPad can't do that huh?

For all my people that know about rooting your PlayBook, you will be happy to find out that you can still use your "rooted" and side-loaded apps. Its pretty much the best of both worlds! (I did lose access to the Android Market on my HoneyComb Launcher, wonder why RIM?)

A lot of the apps on the Android side of my tablet now work after this upgrade. The Kwan Lee TV app works, as well as other apps. If I'm not mistaken, RIM put out a message concerning Android apps a few days ago.

If you haven't picked up a BlackBerry PlayBook you should do so, and you really should do so if you have a BlackBerry. For $200 it's the best tablet you're going to get at that price. To get the same features on another tablet is about $350 and up on the Android OS and the iPad starts at $500 if I'm not mistaken.

Tech Time

Pin It Now!

For most of you that actually know me, you know that I am constantly in the know with gadgets and technology. I love computers and gadgets that make it easier to do daily tasks I do. So here is what I have seen in the past few days that I need to put you guys on to:

1. iPhone 4G:
Now, I am an avid BlackBerry user, but for all the touch-screen fanatics, this is looking like the phone to get. Its trying to compete with the blackberry with details of multitasking and switching apps (similar to when you hold the menu button on the bb), as well as having better organization. You can put your apps into one folder instead of just dragging and dropping between pages on the iPhone. They basically made it a phone not just for fashion or showing off anymore. It can compete with the blackberry phones and the android powered os phones.

Confirmed features:
* Multitasking.
* Spell check (like on the iPad).
* Bluetooth keyboard support (again, on the iPad).
* User-defined wallpaper (a jailbreak favorite).
* Tap to focus when recording video, just like with photos, and a 5x digital zoom for the camera.
* Playlist creation and nested playlists.
* App folders for sorting apps! You can even put an app folder in the dock.
* Enhanced Mail! You can have a merged inbox view, switch between inboxes quickly, and sync to more than one Exchange account. There’s also threaded messaging (at last!) and in-app attachment viewing.
* iBooks, just like on iPad, only smaller. You can wirelessly sync books between platforms, a la Kindle.
* Enterprise features, including remote device management and wireless app distribution.
* Game Center. It’s like Xbox Live, but for iPhone games. Includes achievements, leaderboards, and match making. It will be available as a “developer preview,” and out for regular users later this year.

2. The Sidekick's Upgrade
Now as you all know, the T-Mobile sidekick is dead. T-Mobile has stopped pushing the phones. Ever since Microsoft brought the company, it has gone downhill. However, the real reason Microsoft brought it was because of the mobile backup. Me being a sidekick user for years loved the fact when I upgraded, all I had to do was login to the new sidekick and everything came back. Thats why Microsoft paid $500 million dollars for the company.

The sidekick upgrade is the Microsoft Kin. It sucks. They tried to keep the essence of the sidekick, but it isn't cutting it. People like the sidekick for the body it had. And the fact it didnt look like every other phone. This phone looks like the MotoBlur. For the teenagers maybe, but for adults and business people no. I can see high school kids with Verizon (Microsoft is only releasing this on Verizon) getting an upgrade from those LG flip phones, but no one is going to go crazy over the phone. It has Windows Mobile 7, Zune syncing, and Microsoft is keeping VERY QUIET on actual specs.

There are two versions of the phone. One looks like a Palm Pre, and the other looks like a MotoBlur clone. The Palm Pre look alike has 4gb of storage, while the MotoBlur clone has 8gb of storage. Still not interested unfortunately. Im good with my BlackBerry 9700. As you know with Microsoft, full specs will not be released until right about a month before the phone has a release date.

3. PS3 In 3D?
With the new 3D TV craze, it seems Sony is going full speed ahead, already planning to release 3D video games. While this is nothing new to video-game heads (Sega Master System had a few 3D titles), to all the young kids who never had the privilege of blowing on cartridges this is fairly new. Unfortunately, the United States will not be having first dibs on this one (PS3 UK will be getting it first)

Here is word from my favorite PS3 website (http://ps3.qj.net):

The first wave of 3D titles for the PS3 will launch in June, Sony UK has announced. They're not totally new, but you do get them for free if you buy their HX803 3D TV (and if you happen to live in Europe).

The HX803 will come with a download voucher for four 3D-capable games: Wipeout HD, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, PAIN, and Super Stardust HD. Before you can enjoy these games in 3D, though, you'll have to wait for a PS3 firmware update that's supposed to come out in June as well.

3D glasses are also a separate purchase as they apparently don't come with the HX803. The KDL-LX903 comes bundled with a pair, but its launch date is a bit later.

So in other words, you need to spend more money to get this. Your regular CRT TV will not be playing 3D games.

4. This is how you know your device you want to sell is official: if they make a knockoff right after it comes out.

As you know, if something is hot in the US, there is usually a knockoff coming real soon. (MP4 players that look like iPods, fake PSP's with the fake tetris game, etc.)
Already they have a bootleg iPad.
This iPad runs the Android OS (same as the g1, MotoBlur and Droid phones), and is supposedly the price of a new g1 with contract.

Here is the news from Engadget's website:
Supposedly, the tablet will sell for as little as 900 Chinese yuan (or about $130), which will get you a 7-inch touchscreen, a 600MHz Rockchip RK2808 processor (which could possibly be upgraded to a Cortex-A8 before launch), Android 1.5 for an OS, an SD card slot for storage, built-in WiFi, and a promised five hours of battery life. What's more, while it is slightly thicker than an iPad, it apparently weighs just 0.7 pounds, or about half as much as the iPad, and it boasts a few advantages of its own, in a front-facing camera and a USB port.

Bootleg Blackberry:
Yes. There is a bootleg BlackBerry. Its called the BlueBerry.
The phone isn't actually bad. It has mobile tv, wi-fi, and dual sim support. I would actually look to get this for someone who isnt too tech friendly, but wants a nice looking phone that does basic things, and does not have that extra data plan price attached to it. And it has the trackpad that everyone loves. I would actually co-sign this phone. It is great for kids and your parents.

That is all for this post. I will be doing this more often....
